On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Frans Seda Foundation facilitated a webinar on Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) for Indonesian school teachers from Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Preschool Modernland & Modernhill.
Based on the results from a survey conducted by the Frans Seda Foundation amongst its Fellows. The Foundation, connected two Frans Seda Fellows to each other to share and learn from one another. Natalina Sangapta (S17) from SOS Children’s Villages Indonesia and Maria Angela (IL19) from Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Preschool Modernland & Modernhill gave space for teachers to learn more about Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, with a particular focus on Psychological First Aid.
“Mental health is something that we really need to take care and consider. In this time of Covid-19 pandemic, many things happened and some of them are really new to us. As preschool educators, teaching from home is something new and very challenging.” said Maria Angela.
Maria and her team in Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Preschool Modernland and Modernhill were very pleased to have a session to remind the teachers how to prioritize self-care by checking their mental health and that we are all in this together.
For the Frans Seda Foundation this session was the first time that it connected Fellows from different programmes to one another. Maria summarized the session by stating: “A very nice and informative session with Natalina enlightened us to be nice to ourselves and gave us useful tips on how to do a psychological first aid. Thank you Frans Seda Foundation for making it possible to have this collaboration between FSF Fellows, together we can do it”.
Natalina added: “We hope that the teachers can use the information for themselves and for the students or the parents who need it!”
The Frans Seda Foundation would like to thank Natalina and Maria for their collaboration during this pilot project. The session showed that by connecting Fellows to each other, wonderful things can happen!
